How ScoutR secured trials for two players:

At ScoutR, we continue to pursue our goal of helping as many players as possible to become professional footballers. Recently, we achieved this by securing trial spots for two of our users at extremely short notice. Louie and Dec were selected by scouts on the app to attend an in-person trial. Here is the story of how ScoutR delivered two players with less than 24 hours’ notice.

The challenge

What follows is a tale of seizing opportunities and the power of preparation. With less than 24 hours notice, ScoutR’s advanced features helped secure two players for a high-stakes trial. Some players missed their chance, while others rose to the occasion. With less than 24 hours to find two players for a trial at Coventry City’s academy ground, we accepted the challenge and got straight to work. Using the advanced scouting features of the app, we identified two players who matched the requirements: males aged 16-26, able to get to Coventry by 10 am the next day, and preferably a goalkeeper and a centre-back. With these criteria in place, it was easy to search for the right players—simply input the filters to find all males between 16 and 26, who are either goalkeepers or defenders, located near Coventry.

Missed opportunities

We quickly found players. However, getting players to commit was a different story. The first player we contacted, a defender with excellent stats on the ScoutR app, lived only 15 minutes away from the trial location. Unfortunately, they didn’t respond, which highlights the importance of keeping notifications on for ScoutR—you never know when your big chance might come. This player missed out on a potentially life-changing opportunity simply because they either didn’t check their phone or had notifications turned off.

Our search continued. Another player we approached was unable to attend due to a match for his college football team. While it’s surprising that an opportunity to perform in front of scouts from top clubs wasn’t enough to sway him, we respect his commitment to his team. Nevertheless, we pressed on with the search.

Trials Secured

Within two hours of receiving the request, we succeeded. We secured two “yes” responses, including a goalkeeper, demonstrating the efficiency and power of ScoutR’s search capabilities.

This experience is a perfect example of how missed opportunities can become opportunities for others, and it also showcases how useful the ScoutR filter search is for finding players across the country—whether for trials like this one or to sign directly for your club.

The day of the trial

On the day of the trial, a ScoutR representative was present to support the players and congratulate them on securing the opportunity. Both players performed admirably under the pressure, especially given the high level of competition on display. We are confident in Louie and Dec’s potential and hopeful for their futures—definitely two players to watch.

Adding to the intensity of the occasion, ex-Premier League players were in attendance, which only added to the pressure on the pitch, as well as the attention from the spectators.
